Gavin O'Connell is from Plymouth, Minnesota, and is a sophomore forward for the Michigan State hockey team. He skated in all 38 games during his freshman season in 2023-24, compiling a 15-11-26 scoring line and tying for second on the team in goals (15). He also tied for third in the Big Ten in game-winning goals (4) and ranked among the top first-year players in the league. Before college, Gavin spent two seasons with the Waterloo Black Hawks in the USHL and played three years at Wayzata High School, earning All-Metro and All-Conference honors. He is majoring in business.
